This article, titled
“What's More Expensive Than College? Not Going to College.” Seemed pretty
obvious at first. Yes, obviously people who go the farthest in college end up
having the lowest unemployment rate, and these people make the most money as
well. The surprising factor in this article is just how high the numbers are.
The chart showing the “youth not in education” is rather drastic. It states
that in 2010, more than 12 percent of the young people between the ages of 15
and 24 are not receiving an education and are unemployed. This leads to $4.75
trillion dollars added to the US debt, which equals a third of that GPD. On a personally note, I am going to college.
My top three college choices at this point are Canisius, Ithica and Syracuse,
in no specific order. All three of these colleges offer good journalism
programs, which is my highest point of interest at this point. However,
journalism is a hard industry to make good money in, unless you’re good at it.
Hopefully this works out for me because of how much I enjoy it. Of course I
also have back up options as well. My number 2 industry would have to be
counseling. Maybe a drug counselor or a guidance counselor would be a good spot
for me as well. I really wish that I was better at sports, so that I could play
ball in college. Regardless of that working out, I would still like to attend a
school with a dynamic sports program, so that I could attend the games. A
division 1 athletics school would be fun to attend, just for the atmosphere
alone. I obviously still have a lot of time to decide, and if had to write the
same blog a year from now, my answers might be completely different.
