O1

Once again I will be writing an article about the NBA. This time however, I will be more specifically referring to the Knicks as this article did. The New York Knicks (my favorite team) is on one of the most impressive win streaks in decades for the organization. The streak reached 12 wins yesterday, as they beat the Thunder, (the best team in the west) 125-100 in Oklahoma City none the less. Melo was able to hold Kevin Durant (the league’s leading scorer) to 27 points as he himself scored 36 and grabbed 12 rebounds. Anthony is now only 3 one hundredths of a point behind Durant, who leads the league in scoring. There are a number of reasons for the Knicks recent success. The first, and most important, has been Carmelo’s playing. Melo had a streak where he scored 131 points in three games, and shot over 60% from the field. Another reason has been the unbelievable three point shooting by the Knicks this year. The Knicks lead the league in this category, as they made 15 on Sunday afternoon. JR Smith has also stepped up recently, as he has been shooting the ball very well. As 6 games remain in the regular season schedule, it’s very possible that the Knicks cap off the season with 18 straight wins. They play 3 more playoff-bound teams, including the Pacers, Hawks and Bulls. Two of these games are at home however, where the Knicks are unlikely to lose. New York has lost to Chicago every time they have played them this year, which is a little concerning. We can only hope that the momentum will carry the Knicks to victory in this game, which takes place on April 11th. Just yesterday, the Knicks reached a 50 win season for the first time this decade. I hope to see it continue as they seem to have improved greatly in terms of rebuilding.
