I really wish I had money. I’m currently working two jobs. I
work at this restaurant in East Aurora and I start today and I’m really
nervous. But I hope I like this place because I work approximately 25 to 30
hours a week and that should bring in some good cash. I need money because I currently
have a lot of prom debt and I need to pay that off. Prom is one expensive
event. If I paid all at once the grand total would most likely come to a total
sum of $350. That’s just an estimate however. After I pay the prom debt, I’ll
be in better shape. However, I got a car on Saturday morning, and it’s awesome.
However, it’s going to take a decent part of my pay check. First of all I have to
pay $25 a week for the car, and then gas as well. The car (2013 Ford Fusion)
gets like 34 miles to the gallon, so I’m not too concerned with that. So once
prom is done, and if you take into consideration the car costs, I’ll most
likely somewhere around 150-200 dollars a week left for whatever. It seems like
a lot, but then we have to go ahead and break that down as well. First off, I have
to save some of that money for the upcoming fall when my pay checks will be
significantly lower since I will only be able to work on weekends because of
football and school and all that jazz. So if I save like 50 dollars a week, that
should leave me with somewhere around $100. We have to think that $25 of that
will go to fast food, and that should leave $75 for fun. I will most likely
invest this money into shoes or clothes
and or football equipment because it’s rather expensive and we all know that
Wendy isn’t going to be wanting to pay for that.

It’s funny to look back at these old blogs that I feel like I
wrote years ago. It’s amazing how time flies. It’s funny how my thoughts have
changed, especially since I disagree with some of the blogs that I rote just
last week already. I’d say that I’m rather content with my sophomore year up to
this point. First, I said that in football I had hoped to win at least 6 games
this year, and we did exactly that. We defeated Royhart-Barker, Niagara
Wheatfield, lost to Albion, beat East, lost to Depew, beat Medina, beat
Newfane, beat Pioneer and ended the season with a tough loss to Lancaster. My
biggest regret from the football season was the Albion game. I know that we
could’ve beat those guys, but we just had an off day, especially late in the
game, when we had a chance to win and just couldn’t do it. Basketball season
came next, and I was not asked to play on the varsity squad, so I knew I had to
work my butt off on JV. And I truly thought that I did, although we struggled as
a team and ended the season with 4 wins and 14 losses. I averaged 11 points, 5
rebounds and 5 assists per game. I had hoped to be called up to varsity for the
playoffs, but that didn’t happen either. I try to forget about this past
basketball season. In terms of school, I have slacked. I don’t ever study
although I know I should. My grades are at an all-time low; I currently have a
90.25 average at the end of the 3rd quarter. But I am sure that I will
get that up to end the year. And I hope that I have become an all-around better
person since posting that blog on Wednesday, September 12th.

Television, where do I begin? Well like every other kid my
age, I’d say that yes, I watch television. But I don’t watch as much television
as the average guy my age. This is how my evenings usually go: Sports from 3
until 5, shower until 5:30, eat until 6:30, homework until 7:30 or 8ish, then I
usually play PlayStation until 9 or 9:30. Then I’ll do the laundry until 10ish,
and that’ll just about cap off my night. During sports seasons I don’t have
much time for TV, but there are most certainly a few shows that I like to watch
and that’s where DVR comes into play. The Office is the funniest show on
television, and it’s new on Thursday nights, so that’s often recorded and
watched at a later date when I’m bored and have time. New Girl is my favorite
show, and that’s new on Tuesday nights, and it’s always recorded. Modern Family
is my number 3 show, and that gets recorded on Wednesday nights.
During football season, my Sundays are spent watching the
NFL, and Saturdays revolve around the NCAA, so there’s not much time for the
average TV shows. During winter it’s kind of the same story. However, the spring
is my off season, and this is when I get my fix of TV. Lately I’ve been
catching up on my shows, since my DVR fills quickly, so I can delete the old
shows. It kind of makes me mad however, when people talk about episodes that
have already happened that I have not seen yet. It’s just a huge spoiler and
ruins it. I used to watch this show called the event and it was interesting. It
was about aliens or something, but it got canceled after the first season and I’m
very upset about that.

My father is my biggest role model. He’s truly an
extraordinary guy. He’s also the smartest man I know. He’s the kind of person
who doesn’t call an electrician or a plumber when something breaks, instead he
teaches himself to fix it without help. He’s a handy man to an extreme degree.
He constructed the entire 40x60 pole barn in my back yard, by himself. He makes
an honest living, works hard, and he never takes the easy way out. He’s a great
designer, and he could be a great artist as well if he chose to be. Atop the
above, he is also down right hilarious. He has a great typical Polish sense of
humor. For example, when I was little, he would often mention the word “Henway”.
Like when the car broke, he had to go fix the henway. Or when I asked what he
was doing, I was more often than not “Working on the henway.”
So, like anyone would, I eventually asked; “Dad, what’s a
henway?”
To which he would
reply; “About 6 pounds.”
Classic. He still gets people with the same joke today,
however he has many others in his arsenal. He’s also very caring under that
thick skin of his, for example, he works with a very poor old man named Richie.
Last week, Riche ran out of gas money, and my dad paid Richie $20 every day to
help Richie out. The best part about my dad is how much he cares about me. He
is extremely strict, and just recently I have realized how helpful that has
been. He had a crazy childhood, and got into a lot of trouble, and he’s trying to
make me different. My favorite aspect, is that my dad come to every, single,
sporting event that I take part in, even if he is well aware that I will be
warming the bench.

Another choice blog calls for one thing: another NBA blog.
As the regular season is coming to an end, I’m taking a look at the playoff
preview. If the NBA playoffs began today, Miami would play Milwaukee, New York
would play Boston, Indiana-Atlanta and Brooklyn- Chicago. Miami obviously
advances, as does New York. I also have Indiana and Brooklyn advancing as well.
Then Miami beats Brooklyn, and New York barley beats Indiana, most likely in 7
games. Even though New York won the season series with Miami (3-1), I find it
hard to believe that the Knicks can win 4 games, including at least 1 in
Miami. So Miami advances to the finals
in the East. Then we have the west, where the Spurs would play the Lakers,
Oklahoma and Houston, Denver- Golden State, and Clippers-Grizzlies. Spurs
defeat the Lakers, but it takes 7 games, as Kobe carries the team on his back. OKC
defeats Houston in 5 games, Denver beats Golden State in 4, and the Clippers
beat the Grizzlies. The Clippers then defeat the Spurs, and OKC defeats Denver
in 7 games. OKC then beats the Clips in 7 games, to advance to the finals for
last year’s rematch. A more mature Durant-Westbrook team gives the Thunder a
lift, as they defeat the Heat in 7 games. Durant takes home Finals MVP, as he
would most likely average 35 ppg in that series. Now to the awards. The MVP
will most likely go to the leading scorer, and it looks like it will be Carmelo
Anthony at this point. Rookie of the year will most likely go to Damian Lillard
of the Trail Blazers. Defensive play will go to Serge Ibaka, who leads the
league in blocks. Most improved player could go to Jose Calderon, who leads the
league in 3 point percentage. Coach of the year goes to George Karl, since he hasn’t
won yet, and the Nuggets are a 3 seed.

This article, titled
“What's More Expensive Than College? Not Going to College.” Seemed pretty
obvious at first. Yes, obviously people who go the farthest in college end up
having the lowest unemployment rate, and these people make the most money as
well. The surprising factor in this article is just how high the numbers are.
The chart showing the “youth not in education” is rather drastic. It states
that in 2010, more than 12 percent of the young people between the ages of 15
and 24 are not receiving an education and are unemployed. This leads to $4.75
trillion dollars added to the US debt, which equals a third of that GPD. On a personally note, I am going to college.
My top three college choices at this point are Canisius, Ithica and Syracuse,
in no specific order. All three of these colleges offer good journalism
programs, which is my highest point of interest at this point. However,
journalism is a hard industry to make good money in, unless you’re good at it.
Hopefully this works out for me because of how much I enjoy it. Of course I
also have back up options as well. My number 2 industry would have to be
counseling. Maybe a drug counselor or a guidance counselor would be a good spot
for me as well. I really wish that I was better at sports, so that I could play
ball in college. Regardless of that working out, I would still like to attend a
school with a dynamic sports program, so that I could attend the games. A
division 1 athletics school would be fun to attend, just for the atmosphere
alone. I obviously still have a lot of time to decide, and if had to write the
same blog a year from now, my answers might be completely different.
