For my fourth and final choice blog this week, I am going to
talk about the New York Knicks once again, and give an update on their season,
and preview the rest of the season. Who would have thought that without Jeremy
Lin and Amar’e Stoudamire, the New York Knicks would be in first place in the
Eastern Conference? It’s been a wonderful start to the season for the Knicks,
as they hold a 14-4 record, after beating the second place Heat last night. The
craziest part about this is that the Knicks star Carmelo Anthony (who is 3rd
in the league in scoring) was out with a finger injury, and behind 27 points
from point guard Raymond Felton, the Knicks were able to pull off a win with a
10 point margin. This season could be absolutely huge for the Knickerbockers, as
they are a favorite to win the NBA championship. And what a year it could be
for Carmelo Anthony. We all knew that he could score, but he is also averaging
6.7 rebounds as well as 26 points. He is currently ranked 2nd in the
MVP race, behind Kevin Durant. If he could win the MVP, and the Knicks win the
championship, (which would most likely result in Melo receiving the finals MVP
as well) all Anthony critics could be silenced, as many believe that he is
currently the best player without a championship. This season is huge for the
Knicks. If I was in charge, I can’t say that I’d change much. Felton (averaging
15 points per game and leading the league in 3’s) is having a wonderful year.
But I think that Stoudamire’s got to go. Right now he’s hurting the
organization more than he’s helping. I think they should trade him for a decent
player, maybe a David Lee or Timofy Mosgov. That’s just my opinion, go Knicks!
